Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday launched a special Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package worth Rs 75.60 crore for 1,371 displaced families of Golabandha in Ganjam district.
The CM announced the package while attending a special programme at Golabandha. The initiative aims to support displaced families with financial assistance, housing support and improved infrastructure.
Under the package, 1,371 eligible families will receive a one-time compensation of Rs 5 lakh each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The total financial assistance amounts to Rs 68.55 crore and is aimed at helping families become financially self-reliant.
The government has also allocated Rs 4.25 crore for house construction assistance. The funding will help complete 998 incomplete houses and construct 10 new houses.
More than Rs 2.80 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure development in New Kirtipur Colony. The planned facilities include roads, street lights, Anganwadi centres, a market complex, public toilets and a cyclone shelter.
The package also includes beach levelling to facilitate the docking of fishing boats, providing additional support to the local fishing community.
Meanwhile, the CM also distributed land title deeds to families displaced by the Chheligarh Medium Irrigation Project.
A total of 112 displaced families are being resettled at Santarapur in Digapahandi. Each family will receive 10 decimals of homestead land and two acres of agricultural land.
In the first phase, 96 families were provided pattas for their homestead and agricultural land. The remaining families will receive their land titles soon.
The CM said the Chheligarh Medium Irrigation Project is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Once completed, the project will bring more than 6,000 hectares of land under irrigation across Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
The R&R package and land allotment are aimed at ensuring rehabilitation, livelihood support, and better living conditions for families affected by development projects in the region.
