Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar has received ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications, marking recognition of its quality and environmental management systems.

InterCert issued the certifications to the Airports Authority of India for Biju Patnaik International Airport.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification covers the airport’s Quality Management System. ISO 14001:2015 covers its Environmental Management System.

Both certificates carry the same operational scope. They include planning, development, operation, and maintenance of airport infrastructure and the provision of air navigation services.

The scope also covers safe, secure, efficient, and customer-focused aviation services.

According to the certificates, both were issued on August 20, 2026. The ISO 9001:2015 certificate carries registration number IC-QM-2608236, while the ISO 14001:2015 certificate carries registration number IC-EM-2608237.

The certificates mention August 19, 2027, as the surveillance validity date and August 19, 2029, as the recertification date.

The development has also drawn appreciation from Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

In a post on X, Majhi said the certifications reaffirm Odisha’s commitment to world-class quality, operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

“Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha,” the post said, highlighting the state’s efforts to set new benchmarks in infrastructure, efficiency and sustainable development.

The CM also said the certifications for Biju Patnaik International Airport reaffirm the commitment to world-class quality, operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

He added that a “new Odisha” is taking shape, where vision is translating into standards of excellence and development is becoming a defining identity.

The certifications place quality management and environmental management at the centre of the airport’s operational framework. Recent reports have also confirmed the issuance of both ISO certifications to the Bhubaneswar airport.
