Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, released the fifth instalment of the CM-Kisan Yojana on Friday.
Over Rs 833 crore was transferred through direct benefit transfer to the bank accounts of more than 41 lakh farmer families.
The assistance will help farmers meet essential agricultural expenses, particularly for the upcoming Rabi crop.
Majhi attended the CM-Kisan programme in Bhubaneswar and highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening farmers’ livelihoods and economic security.
He said a strong farming community is essential for building a prosperous Odisha. The latest instalment, he added, will strengthen the rural economy while supporting farmers’ income and self-reliance.
The government is also implementing several measures to improve the economic security of farming families. These include the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, under which paddy is being procured at Rs 3,100 per quintal.
The Krushi Vidyanidhi initiative provides free technical education to children from farmer families.
The CM-Kisan scheme also extends support to landless agricultural families, including small and marginal farmers. The assistance is aimed at helping families meet financial needs and sustain their livelihoods.
The CM also announced a special assistance package for farmers affected by the recent floods. Compensation will be provided based on the assessment of crop damage.
Ahead of Nuakhai, Majhi extended his wishes to farmers and the people of Odisha. He prayed to Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath and Maa Samaleswari for happiness, peace and prosperity across the state.
