Bhubaneswar: Bihar’s Minister of Sports and Industries, Shreyasi Singh, embarked on a four-day study visit to Odisha starting July 30, 2026, aimed at drawing lessons from the state’s sports ecosystem for Bihar’s upcoming Sports City project.
Singh, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and Arjuna Award recipient, is leading a high-level delegation that includes Director of Sports Arif Ahsan and Deputy Director Himanshu Singh. The visit, scheduled to run until August 2, focuses on studying Odisha’s high-performance centre models, public-private partnership frameworks, and sports science integration.
The delegation reviewed facilities at the Kalinga Stadium complex, including the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, the Shooting High Performance Centre, the Gymnastics High Performance Centre, the Aquatic Centre, the Badminton High Performance Centre, the Hockey High Performance Centre, the Sports Science Centre, the Indoor Athletics Centre, the Weightlifting High Performance Centre, and the AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy.
Officials from Odisha’s Sports & Youth Services Department, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia and Sports Director Dr. Yedulla Vijay, held discussions with the visiting delegation. Talks covered athlete development strategies, administrative best practices, talent discovery programs, and event management protocols.
The delegation is set to travel to Puri next, where it will inspect the Kho-Kho High Performance Centre and the Sports Hostel, continuing the exchange of sports development knowledge between the two states.
Speaking during the interactions, the delegation described Odisha’s sports framework as an exemplary model, saying its operational methods and high-performance centres would help shape Bihar’s own athletic infrastructure and upcoming sports projects.
