Bhubaneswar: A district-level event under the ‘Udyami Odisha MSME Program’ was organised on Sunday by the District Industries Centre, Mayurbhanj, at Sri Ram Chandra Library in Baripada on the occasion of International Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day.

The seminar, themed ‘Entrepreneurship Awareness and Credit Facilitation’, aimed to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and support the growth of existing micro-enterprises in the district.

Housing & Urban Development and Public Enterprises Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra attended the programme as the chief guest.

Addressing aspiring entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and local business owners, the minister said the Odisha government was committed to creating a strong, self-reliant ecosystem for MSMEs. He said improving financial literacy and simplifying access to institutional credit were essential to unlocking Mayurbhanj’s entrepreneurial potential.

The minister said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, was prioritizing the strengthening of the MSME sector, which he described as the backbone of the economy. He added that efforts were being made to bridge the gap between credit availability and grassroots innovation to promote regional economic growth.

Highlighting initiatives to promote women-led development, Dr. Mahapatra referred to the recent launch of the Odisha chapter of the Women Entrepreneurship Platform by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in collaboration with NITI Aayog. He said the platform would provide women entrepreneurs with better access to finance, mentorship, and market linkages, enabling them to play a greater role in the state’s economic growth.

The programme also included interactive sessions on various state and central government credit schemes, financial inclusion initiatives, and subsidy provisions aimed at supporting rural enterprises.

Senior officials of the District Industries Centre, representatives from banks, and local administrative authorities attended the event. They guided participants on enterprise registration and loan application procedures.
