Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of August Kranti Divas. The launch marked a historic beginning for the statewide initiative.
The CM appealed to over four and a half crore people of Odisha to hoist the national flag with pride. He urged citizens to display the tricolour in every village, panchayat, town, home, school and office across the state. The campaign will run from August 9 to August 17.
To keep the national festival eco-friendly, Majhi called for a complete boycott of plastic flags. He urged people to use only cloth flags during the campaign period.
A colourful padayatra was organised on the occasion. Students from various schools and colleges took part in the march. Volunteers from Scouts and Guides, NCC and NSS also joined the procession, holding the tricolour and marching in a disciplined formation.
Cultural troupes from different parts of Odisha performed traditional folk dances and art forms during the event.
The CM, along with other dignitaries, distinguished sportspersons and thousands of students, took part in the procession. Participants raised slogans of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during the march.
Meanwhile, Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also took part in the mega event, saying, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign will carry the spirit of patriotism from the capital to every village.
In a post on X, he said: “60 lakh Tirangas have been prepared by self-help group ‘mothers’ for this mega campaign. Along with this, through Tiranga marches, selfies with the Tiranga, and other cultural programs, the people of the state will express their respect for the national flag.”
