Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has conducted a special night enforcement drive in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, targeting drunken driving, illegal arms, illicit liquor, narcotics, traffic violations, and other criminal activities.
The drive was conducted as per the directions of the Director General of Police, Odisha Police. It focused on intensified night patrolling, checking, and detection of illegal activities.
A total of 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors were deployed during the drive. The exercise also provided them with practical exposure to field enforcement and policing operations.
In Cuttack, police detected 90 drunken-driving cases and seized 90 vehicles. The seized vehicles included 21 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers.
Police also detected two Excise cases and seized 35 litres of liquor. Two cases involving modified silencers were detected, while four mobile phones were recovered.
In Bhubaneswar, police registered 122 drunken-driving cases and seized 122 vehicles. The vehicles included 49 four-wheelers, eight three-wheelers and 65 two-wheelers.
Police also collected Rs 79,500 in Motor Vehicle and OUP fines during the enforcement drive.
Chandrasekharpur Police Station seized two sand-loaded Hywas, while Mancheswar Police Station detected two Excise cases and two cases involving modified silencers.
During foot patrolling, Khandagiri Police Station arrested three antisocial elements who were found consuming liquor in secluded places.
The special drive was aimed at strengthening visible policing, preventing crime and improving road safety during night hours.
Odisha Police said focused enforcement and field-oriented policing exercises will continue as part of its priorities, including women’s safety, prevention of crime against women, action against organised crime, and sustained enforcement against drugs and illicit liquor.
