New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah will miss India’s upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. The pacer has not fully recovered from a left knee injury he suffered during the ODI series against England, the BCCI said in a statement.
The Men’s Selection Committee has drafted in Auqib Nabi as his replacement. The Jammu and Kashmir seamer will earn his first call-up to the senior national team.
Nabi has been among the standout performers in domestic cricket recently. He picked up 104 wickets across the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, with 60 of those coming in the 2025-26 season alone. His performances were instrumental in Jammu and Kashmir’s first-ever Ranji Trophy title win. He also featured for India A on their recent tour of Sri Lanka, taking six wickets in two first-class games.
The India-Sri Lanka series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Both sides will be eyeing crucial points as they push for a place in the WTC Final.
The two-match series is set to begin in August 2026. The first Test will be played in Galle from August 15, followed by the second Test in Colombo.
