Google Extends India’s AI-Powered Farming Innovations Across Asia-Pacific

In a landmark move that highlights the global potential of homegrown innovation, Google has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) models for agriculture—originally developed in India—to several countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The company’s Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) and Agricultural Monitoring and Event Detection (AMED) APIs will now be accessible to selected testers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Japan.

These free, open-access tools combine machine learning and remote sensing to provide precise, hyperlocal agricultural insights. Rather than delivering a single application, Google has created two foundational AI systems designed to support startups, researchers, and public institutions in building customized solutions to advance agricultural sustainability.

Introduced in October 2024, the ALU API acts as the first layer of this framework. It employs AI-based landscape segmentation to map agricultural land at the field level, giving users a comprehensive view of farmlands. Such detailed mapping empowers innovators to design solutions that boost productivity, enhance resilience, and foster sustainable farming practices.

Building on ALU’s foundation, the AMED API provides even more detailed monitoring capabilities. It tracks crop-level data—such as field size, crop type, and growing cycles—while maintaining a three-year archive of historical agricultural activities. These datasets are invaluable for forecasting yields, assessing crop health, and determining ideal environmental conditions for cultivation.

With updates issued roughly every two weeks, the AMED API offers near real-time reflections of on-ground changes in farmlands. This continual stream of data supports proactive farm management, allowing stakeholders—from agritech startups to government agencies—to respond swiftly to challenges like drought, pest infestation, or declining soil fertility.

By extending these innovations beyond India, Google is enabling other Asian countries to tap into AI-powered agricultural intelligence. The expansion underscores India’s emergence as a center of technological innovation while demonstrating how AI can drive efficiency, productivity, and sustainability in the agriculture sector.

What began as an India-first innovation has now evolved into a regional movement—uniting technology, data, and local expertise to reimagine the future of farming across Asia.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Spark Dating Rumours After Paris Outing

Washington: Pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were seen together in Paris over the weekend, sparking renewed speculation about their relationship.

According to a report by USA Today, the two attended a cabaret show on Saturday (October 25), which also marked Perry’s 41st birthday. Videos and photos circulating online showed the pair leaving the venue hand in hand before stepping into a waiting car surrounded by photographers.

Perry was dressed in a striking red gown with matching heels, while Trudeau opted for a black suit. Neither has publicly commented on the outing or on persistent rumours about their relationship.

Trudeau, 53, served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 to 2025 and announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023. The former couple, married since 2005, share three children and said at the time they would remain close as co-parents.

Perry, who shares a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, with actor Orlando Bloom, confirmed her split from Bloom earlier this year. In a joint statement, representatives said the two were shifting their focus to co-parenting while maintaining mutual respect and stability for their child.

In recent months, Trudeau has been seen attending Perry’s events, including a concert in Montreal in July, adding to the speculation. Both have kept their personal lives largely private amid growing public attention.

PM Modi Urges Citizens to Participate in Run for Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to join the Run for Unity on October 31, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The nationwide event, held annually to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), celebrates the spirit of oneness and the vision of unity that Sardar Patel championed.

Responding to a post by Ekta Diwas Bharat on X, the Prime Minister wrote: “Join the Run for Unity on 31st October and celebrate the spirit of togetherness! Let’s honour Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India.”

The Run for Unity—first organised in 2014—pays tribute to the Iron Man of India for his pivotal role in integrating over 560 princely states into a united nation. This year’s edition carries special significance as it coincides with his 150th birth anniversary.

Events are expected to be held across cities, towns, and villages, bringing together citizens, students, officials, and organisations in celebration of India’s unity and diversity.

Stressing that terrorism remains a major threat to global peace, he called for greater unity in combating the menace.

In line with Malaysia’s Summit theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” Modi announced several new initiatives, including:
