Rama Devi’s legacy continues to inspire Odisha: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday paid floral tributes to freedom fighter and social reformer Rama Devi on her death anniversary, describing her as a symbol of service, sacrifice and patriotism whose life continues to inspire society.

Paying homage at Rama Devi’s statue near the Odisha Legislative Assembly, the CM said her contributions to India’s freedom movement, social reform and women’s empowerment remain unparalleled.

He said Rama Devi dedicated her life to the service of the people and embodied the values of selfless sacrifice.

Her patriotism and commitment to social welfare, he added, would continue to motivate people to build a strong society and a prosperous nation.

Several dignitaries joined CM Majhi in paying their respects during the commemorative event. Those present included Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, politician and social worker Padma Charan Nayak, senior journalist Pradyumna Satapathy, Odisha Legislative Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Raut, Culture Department Special Secretary Dev Prasad Das, Deputy Director Debajani Bhuyan, along with intellectuals and social workers.

The gathering offered floral tributes and remembered Rama Devi’s enduring contribution to the freedom struggle, social service and the empowerment of women in Odisha.
