Bhubaneswar: A secretaries’ level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed the financial condition of the State on Thursday and the progress of budget expenditure for the 2025-26 financial year up to the end of February 2026.
The meeting assessed how departments have utilised approved budget allocations during the current financial year. Officials also examined the pace of spending under various government programmes, according to a government release.
The chief secretary directed all departments to utilise the approved budget allocations within the stipulated time before the end of the current month. She also asked departments to focus on preparations for the effective implementation of new schemes and programmes proposed in the 2026-27 budget.
Garg stressed the need for timely spending in line with approved allocations. She urged departments to strengthen efficiency and accountability in financial management to ensure the smooth execution of development initiatives.
Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, along with other additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, commissioners, and secretaries from various departments, attended the meeting.
Officials reviewed the State’s financial position and discussed expenditure progress for the 2025-26 budget. Departments received instructions to complete utilisation of budget allocations within the current fiscal year and prepare for the implementation of new schemes planned for 2026-27.
