Bhubaneswar: Candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from Odisha filed their nominations at the Assembly premises on Thursday.
Candidates announced by the Central Election Committee of the BJP – State President Manmohan Samal and MP Sujit Kumar – submitted their nomination papers.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with members of the Council of Ministers, MPs, and MLAs, were present during the filing of nominations.
In a post on X, Samal said: “ମହାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶ୍ରୀ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ଓ କୋଟି କୋଟି ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କ ଭଲପାଇବା ସହ ଆଜି ରାଜ୍ୟ ସଭା ସାଂସଦ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥୀ ନିମନ୍ତେ ନାମାଙ୍କନ ପତ୍ର ଦାଖଲ କରିଛି । ଆଜି ପୁଣି ଥରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଜନତାଙ୍କ ସେବା କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୋ ଦଳ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶରେ ମୋତେ ଏହି ସୁଯୋଗ ମିଳିଛି । ଆମ ଦଳର ଦେବଦୁର୍ଲ୍ଲଭ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକର୍ତ୍ତା ଏବଂ ସମସ୍ତ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଓ ଭଲପାଇବା ମୋତେ ମୋ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ କରିବାକୁ ସର୍ବଦା ପ୍ରେରଣା ଯୋଗାଇଛି । ୨୦୦୦ ମସିହାରେ ପ୍ରଥମ ଥର ରାଜ୍ୟସଭା ସାଂସଦ ରୂପେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କ ସେବା ଓ ସ୍ବାର୍ଥ ସାଧନ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ସ୍ୱର ଉତ୍ତୋଳନ କରିଥିଲି । ଆଜି ଡବଲ ଇଞ୍ଜିନ ସରକାରରେ ବିକଶିତ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପୁଣି ଥରେ ମୋତେ ସୁଯୋଗ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିଥିବାରୁ ମୁଁ ଆମ ଦଳ ଓ ଦଳର ବରିଷ୍ଠ ନେତୃବୃନ୍ଦଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ କୃତଜ୍ଞ ।”
Before submitting their papers, Samal and Sujit Kumar sought the blessings of Lord Shri Ram.
Independent candidate Dilip Ray also filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das attended the nomination filing of Datteswar Hota, the common candidate supported by the Congress, Biju Janata Dal and Communist Party of India (Marxist) for the Rajya Sabha elections.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik and other senior leaders from the three parties were also present during the nomination process.
