Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police honoured 78 personnel with the Director General of Police (DGP) Medal at an event held at Police Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Wedsday, recognising their outstanding service and achievements.
The medals were presented by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania during a special programme attended by senior police officials and personnel from various wings of the force.
Among those awarded were officers from specialised units, including 29 personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), seven from the Special Branch, and ten from the State Intelligence Wing (SIW), along with others from different departments, according to an official press note.
Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sanjeeb Panda, Additional Director General of Police (Women and Child Crime Wing) S. Saini, Inspector General of Police (Operations) Dr Deepak Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch) Dr Sarthak Sarangi, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Special Intelligence Wing) Akhileshwar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar) Jagmohan Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cuttack) Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Sunil Kumar Nanda, and Superintendent of Police (Police Training Institute, Bairi) Ashok Kumar Dehuri were among the top officials who were awarded.
On the occasion, Inspector Bimal Kumar Kanwar of Badagada Police Station in Ganjam district, which was recognised by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs as the best police station in the state, was also awarded the DGP Medal.
The event was attended by senior police officers, personnel, and media representatives.
