New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone, inaugurated, and dedicated multiple development projects worth around Rs 9,400 crore in Hyderabad, positioning Telangana as an emerging manufacturing, logistics, and energy hub.
Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, the prime minister said the newly launched projects would accelerate industrial growth, improve connectivity, and create large-scale employment opportunities across Telangana. He stressed that the initiatives are designed to strengthen the state’s role in India’s long-term economic expansion.
A major highlight of the announcement was the development of the Zaheerabad Industrial Area as an Industrial Smart City under the National Industrial Corridor Mission, according to an official statement.
The project will feature modern infrastructure, uninterrupted power supply, and advanced ICT-enabled systems aimed at attracting domestic and global investors.
Modi also said the industrial zone is expected to generate thousands of jobs while supporting sectors such as automobile manufacturing, machinery production, and food processing. He added that the project would also benefit local farmers and workers by boosting industrial demand and supply chains.
He also highlighted the upcoming PM MITRA Park in Warangal, describing it as a key step towards reviving India’s textile sector. He said the textile park would receive support under central schemes, including the Production Linked Incentive programme, and would create significant employment opportunities, especially for women.
Focusing on infrastructure, the prime minister said Telangana has witnessed the rapid expansion of its National Highway network over the past 12 years. He noted that the widening of the Telangana-Karnataka National Highway corridor would improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and lower transportation costs for industries and commuters.
In the railway sector, Modi said Telangana is currently witnessing major investments, with railway projects worth nearly Rs 50,000 crore under implementation. He referred to the inauguration of sections of the Kazipet-Vijayawada Multi-Tracking Project and the Kazipet Rail Under Bypass Line, saying the projects would improve passenger movement and freight transportation.
He also inaugurated Indian Oil’s new terminal at Malkapur, calling it an important step towards strengthening regional energy infrastructure and supply chains. He said India is continuing to invest heavily in energy security while simultaneously expanding renewable energy and cleaner fuel initiatives.
Highlighting India’s progress in solar energy and ethanol blending, Modi urged citizens to conserve energy and reduce unnecessary fuel consumption to minimise import dependence and shield the country from global energy disruptions.
The prime minister reiterated that Telangana’s growth is closely linked with India’s development trajectory and assured continued support from the Union government for the state’s industrial, infrastructure, and employment ambitions.
