Visakhapatnam: Cognizant marked a significant milestone on Friday with the groundbreaking of its new 22-acre campus in Visakhapatnam, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Andhra Pradesh’s growing technology ecosystem.
The foundation ceremony was held in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Nara Lokesh, the Minister for IT, Electronics & Communication, Human Resources Development and RTG, along with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. The upcoming campus, which will include a state-of-the-art 20,000-seater facility, is set to play a key role in strengthening the company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital engineering capabilities.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Visakhapatnam’s beaches and hills, the project reflects the city’s emergence as a promising technology hub.
With this expansion, Cognizant aims to contribute meaningfully to Vizag’s technology-driven future, supporting innovation, talent development, and employment generation. The company expressed confidence in the city’s potential and reaffirmed its intent to be an integral part of Visakhapatnam’s growth story in the years ahead.
In another development, Cognizant has launched its India AI Lab along with a new Cognizant Moment Studio in Bengaluru, creating a combined innovation hub aimed at accelerating the company’s AI builder strategy. The initiative aligns with Cognizant’s previously announced plan to invest USD1 billion in generative AI over three years, beginning in 2023, according to a company release.
The India AI Lab builds on the work of Cognizant’s AI Lab in San Francisco, which has achieved significant intellectual property milestones, including the granting of more than 60 patents in the US. Meanwhile, the Cognizant Moment Studio operates under the company’s digital experience practice, supporting enterprises in using AI to transform customer engagement and unlock new growth opportunities.
Together, the Bengaluru-based lab and studio will concentrate on creating deployable multi-agent AI systems, advanced decision-making technologies, and initiatives centered on responsible and socially beneficial uses of artificial intelligence.
