New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a series of meetings with leading Finnish technology and industrial companies, reinforcing the growing economic partnership between India and Finland.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, innovation, sustainable infrastructure, and research.
During his visit, Goyal met the senior leadership of Nokia Corporation to discuss collaboration in next-generation telecommunications, including 5G and 6G technologies. The talks also covered digital infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, research and development, and innovation.
Both sides explored ways to build on Nokia’s long-standing presence in India’s telecom sector and strengthen cooperation in emerging digital technologies, according to an official statement.
The minister also visited the VTT Technical Research Centre, one of Europe’s leading applied research institutions. Discussions centred on research partnerships in clean technologies, industrial transformation, advanced materials, digitalisation and sustainable development.
The two sides also explored opportunities to promote technology transfer and deepen cooperation between Indian and Finnish research institutions.
At KONE Corporation, Goyal held talks with the company’s chairman and senior leadership on smart urban infrastructure, elevator and escalator technologies, sustainable construction solutions, advanced manufacturing, and localisation. The discussions also examined opportunities arising from India’s expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
The minister’s final industry engagement was with the Kemppi Group. Talks focused on advanced industrial machinery, welding technologies, manufacturing innovation, and clean industrial solutions. Both sides also discussed investment opportunities in India’s manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, including collaboration in EV charging infrastructure and other emerging industrial technologies.
According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, the meetings enabled direct engagement with Finnish industry leaders and highlighted India’s position as a trusted destination for manufacturing, innovation and investment.
The visit concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to expanding cooperation in technology, research, sustainable manufacturing and investment. The meetings followed the India–Finland Business Forum held a day earlier and are expected to strengthen business partnerships while creating new opportunities for long-term collaboration across strategic sectors.
