Chief secretary reviews key initiatives, highlights March achievements

Bhubaneswar: A high-level departmental review meeting was held at Kharavela Bhawan under the chairpersonship of Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Wednesday. Senior officials from various departments attended the meeting to assess progress and outline future priorities.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners, and Secretaries, were present. IAS probationers of the 2024 batch of the Odisha cadre also participated to gain administrative exposure. Koraput Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan joined the meeting virtually and made a presentation.

At the beginning, Garg reviewed key achievements recorded across departments in March. She appreciated the Skill Development Department for Odisha’s strong performance in the India Skills 2025-26 competition. She also commended the officials involved in the inventory and verification work of the Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple.

The meeting discussed the “Ame Janiba, Ama Budget” programme, focusing on wider dissemination of budget-related information. The efforts of the Finance Department and the Information and Public Relations Department were appreciated for promoting public awareness.

Officials noted that participation in the iGOT Karmayogi Bharat platform had increased significantly. The onboarding of officers and staff under the “Sadhana Saptah” programme rose from 95% to 98%. The chief secretary appreciated the efforts of Gopabandhu Administrative Academy for enhancing active engagement on the platform.

The statewide celebration of “Odia Paksha” was also acknowledged. The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department and other departments were praised for ensuring their widespread observance.

During the meeting, a design proposal for the upcoming “Uplabdhi Portal” was presented. The portal will enable departments to upload monthly achievements, progress reports, and milestones. It will also help departments and the Chief Minister’s Office monitor performance more efficiently.

Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Sanjeeb Mishra emphasised the effective utilisation of central assistance meant for capital investment. Principal Secretary of the Works Department Sanjay Kumar Singh presented details of 25 major projects and outlined long-term plans to strengthen the state’s road network. Officials noted that these initiatives are expected to improve connectivity and boost tourism.
