Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued emergency directives prioritising the safety of census enumerators amid rising temperatures across the state.
As part of the measures, census operations will remain suspended between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to protect field staff from the intense summer heat. Authorities have also been instructed to ensure necessary safety arrangements, maintain regular monitoring, and coordinate closely with the police administration.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari appealed to residents to cooperate with census workers and support them in carrying out their duties. He also urged the public to provide accurate information during the enumeration process while ensuring the safety of both workers and the general public.
The move comes as the state steps up precautions to safeguard frontline personnel engaged in the ongoing census exercise.
