India thrash Chile 7-0 in Junior Hockey World Cup opener

Chennai: India made a strong start to its FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 campaign with a dominant 7-0 win against Chile on Friday at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai.

Coached by PR Sreejesh, the two-time champions, delivered an impressive all-round performance in their opening match. After a quiet first quarter with no goals, India took control in the second. Rosan Kujur broke the deadlock and added another within nine minutes, giving India early momentum. Midfielder Dilraj Singh followed with two goals of his own, helping India secure a comfortable 4-0 lead by half-time.

In the third quarter, Ajeet Yadav extended the advantage with a superb reverse flick into the top-right corner for India’s fifth. Anmol Ekka and Captain Rohit added the final two goals in the fourth quarter, sealing a convincing 7-0 win to kick off India’s Junior World Cup journey in style.
