New Delhi: The government has announced the second tranche of 17 approvals under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), clearing projects worth Rs7,172 crore. These proposals are expected to generate Rs65,111 crore in cumulative production and create 11,808 direct jobs. This follows the first set of seven approvals involving rs5,532 crore announced earlier.

The newly approved projects are spread across Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, reflecting the government’s push for balanced regional growth and high-skill job creation beyond major urban centres, according to a PIB release.

Highlighting the significance of the approvals, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said ECMS is accelerating value chain integration – from devices to components – positioning India to achieve USD500 billion in electronics manufacturing by 2030-31.

Approved companies praised the government’s transparent processes, proactive engagement, and fast-track approvals, noting the role of ECMS in strengthening India’s status as a reliable global manufacturing hub.
During the event, the Minister also launched the first-generation energy-efficient Edge Silicon Chip – ARKA-GKT1, developed by Cyient Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. and Azimuth AI. The chip integrates advanced computing cores, accelerators, secure sensing, and power-efficient design, offering up to 10x better performance for smart utilities, smart cities, batteries, and industrial IoT.

The minister emphasized that ECMS showcases India’s readiness to compete with global manufacturing economies and demonstrates the nation’s commitment to building resilient and trusted supply chains.
The announcements were made at the ICEA event titled “Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme: The Foundation for a Globally Competitive Electronics Value Chain.”
