New Delhi: India delivered one of its best days at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday. The country won 16 medals on Day 10 in Glasgow. Boxing led the charge with 10 medals. Seven boxers claimed gold, while three others took silver.

Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach and Ankush Panghal won gold medals. Jadumani Singh, Lovlina Borgohain and Narender Berwal settled for silver in their respective categories.

India’s overall medal count rose to 39, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals. The nation now sits fourth on the medal table.

Athletics also delivered strong results before India’s campaign in the discipline came to a close. Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran gave India a double podium in the men’s triple jump at Scotstoun Stadium. Praveen jumped 16.58m on his fourth attempt to take silver. Jamaica’s Jordan Scott won gold with a leap of 16.72m.

Selva Prabhu, competing at his first Commonwealth Games, claimed bronze with a fifth-round jump of 16.52m. He edged out New Zealand’s Ethan Olivier, who finished fourth at 16.50m.

The result meant redemption for Praveen. He had missed the podium at Birmingham 2022 by just three centimetres after a jump of 16.89m. This was India’s eighth medal in the triple jump at the Commonwealth Games. It marked the country’s second straight double podium in the event following Birmingham 2022.

Later that evening, Gulveer Singh created history in the men’s 5000m. He became the first Indian athlete to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the event. Gulveer clocked 13:24.95 to finish third. Kenya’s Mathew Kipsang won gold in 13:23.61, while Australia’s Ky Robinson took silver in 13:24.70.

Gulveer, who holds the national record in the event, held off Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi by just 0.04 seconds for the bronze. The medal also made him the first Indian track and field athlete to win two medals at a single edition of the Games. He had already won silver in the men’s 10000m earlier in the week.

India’s athletics campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 ended with 10 medals in total – five silvers and five bronzes.

The para athletics team added to India’s tally as well. Soman Rana won gold in the men’s shot put F57 category with a season-best throw of 13.40m. Shubham Juyal took silver with a season-best effort of 13.28m, completing an Indian sweep of the top two spots.

Not every Indian athlete found success on the day. Priyanka Goswami finished fourth in the women’s 10000m race walk, narrowly missing a second straight medal in the event. She clocked 45:53.93, four years after winning silver in Birmingham with a national record of 43:38.83. Fellow race walker Ravina Gayakwad was disqualified after receiving three red cards during her race.

In the men’s pole vault, Dev Meena finished fourth after clearing 5.30m. He failed in three attempts at 5.40m. Kuldeep Kumar, competing at his first Commonwealth Games, finished sixth after bowing out at 5.10m.

India’s athletics campaign closed with a sixth-place finish in the mixed 4x400m relay final, where the team clocked 3:20.32.
