New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held high-level discussions with US Secretary Marco Rubio on Tuesday following the recent trade deal between India and the US, reaffirming the strength of the India–US strategic partnership.
Dr Jaishankar met Rubio in the afternoon for a wide-ranging conversation. The discussions covered bilateral cooperation, as well as key regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The leaders reviewed major pillars of the Indo–US Strategic Partnership. These included trade, energy, nuclear cooperation, defence, critical minerals, and technology. Both sides agreed to hold early meetings of various bilateral mechanisms to advance shared priorities, according to a post on X by Jaishankar.
For his part, Rubio said he and the Indian minister discussed cooperation in critical minerals exploration. The discussions also focused on working together to unlock new economic opportunities for both countries.
The meetings took place soon after the conclusion of the India–US trade deal. Both sides welcomed the agreement, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening economic ties and deepening collaboration across key strategic sectors.
