Bhubaneswar: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has said that education is the key to achieving the dream of a developed Odisha and stressed the need for greater investment in education and skill development to build a future-ready state.
Addressing the Education Eminence Conclave organised by News18 in Bhubaneswar as the chief guest, the governor said a strong knowledge-driven society powered by quality education, innovation, and skilled human resources is essential for building both a developed Odisha and a developed India.
Describing education as the foundation of nation-building, he said that in the modern era, societies are no longer defined only by natural resources but also by creativity, knowledge systems, and skilled manpower.
“Education and knowledge creation are the best investments for building a developed Odisha,” the governor said.
He further noted that education plays a crucial role in transforming individuals into responsible and active citizens while promoting democratic values, innovation, and social harmony. According to him, education also helps reduce poverty and inequality and equips young people with critical thinking, creativity, and self-confidence.
Highlighting Odisha’s progress in the education sector, the governor praised the state government for giving priority to education and effectively implementing the National Education Policy 2020. He said the emphasis on mother tongue-based learning, digital empowerment, multidisciplinary education, and skill development reflects a long-term vision for preparing future generations.
The governor also highlighted initiatives such as Panchasakha Shiksha Setu, Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Primary School, and Madho Singh Hath Kharcha Yojana, saying these programmes are strengthening school education and promoting inclusion among tribal and economically weaker communities.
Speaking on skill development, he said institutions like the World Skill Center are preparing Odisha’s youth for emerging opportunities in the global economy. He also called upon universities, schools, research institutions, and policymakers to work together to create an ecosystem that promotes innovation, research, and socially relevant education.
Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain also addressed the gathering, while Rotary District Governor Manoj Kumar Tripathy was present at the event.
