Bhubnaeswar: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT-DU) has secured the 6th position among all universities in India in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026, covering both government and private institutions.

The university has also emerged as the top-ranked institution in Odisha and across the eastern region of India. In the previous edition of the rankings in 2025, KIIT was placed 8th nationally.

At the continental level, KIIT has improved its position to 169th in Asia, continuing its upward trajectory from 196th in 2024 and 184th in 2025.

The rankings evaluated 929 universities from 36 countries based on key performance indicators, including teaching environment, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income, KIIT said in a release.

The latest ranking marks a significant achievement for KIIT, which has outperformed several long-established institutions despite being a relatively young university.

Founder of KIIT and KISS, Achyuta Samanta, said the recognition reflects the sustained efforts of faculty, staff, and students in advancing academic excellence.

He added that the university’s focus on internationalisation and innovation has contributed to building a globally competitive academic ecosystem.
