Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu said on Wednesday that the Purvodaya vision of the Central government gives priority to the development of Odisha, and Mayurbhanj district is benefiting significantly from this vision.
She made the statement after inaugurating the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Information Technology Campus and laying the foundation stones for several new projects in Rairangpur.
These projects include the AYUSH Hospital cum Ayurvedic College, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology Campus, an Archery Centre, city beautification and drainage upgradation works, an auditorium and cultural centre, a girls’ hostel, and a de-addiction centre.
The president expressed confidence that these initiatives will boost local development and create new employment opportunities for the people of the region.
She highlighted the government’s focus on the economic upliftment of tribal communities, according to an official statement.
She said that the government provides MSP for over 90 minor forest products under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana. Murmu added that loans are also given to tribal members of self-help groups through the Micro Credit Scheme. Low-interest loans for Scheduled Tribe women are further examples of the government’s commitment.
The president also noted that the government is improving health and education facilities in tribal areas. The Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana is being implemented for the welfare of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. Electrification has reached tribal regions, and 4G internet connectivity has been extended to remote areas.
She urged citizens to take advantage of government welfare and development schemes and to help spread awareness about them.
The president added that local development would strengthen the state, which in turn would contribute to national progress.
She concluded by saying that the goal of achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 could only be fulfilled through the joint efforts of the government and the citizens.
