Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday launched the ‘Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana’ at Nabarangpur, reaffirming the government’s vision that every Odia should receive the blessings of Mahaprabhu with dignity. The scheme was simultaneously flagged off from Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, Baripada, Sambalpur, and Berhampur.
This year, 5,000 beneficiaries will be covered under the scheme, with a target of over one lakh beneficiaries in the next four years. Through this initiative, devotees of Lord Jagannath can visit Puri, receive darshan, and partake in Mahaprasad free of cost.
Alongside the launch, several developmental projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid, boosting infrastructure and growth in the district. The CM laid the foundation stone for the Government Medical College in Nabarangpur, which will have 100 MBBS seats, a 420-bed hospital, and a campus spanning over 50 acres.
A total of 177 development projects worth more than Rs446 crore were announced, the CM said in a post on X. Of these, 112 projects valued at Rs67.96 crore were inaugurated, while work on 65 projects costing Rs378.29 crore has been initiated.
The State government continues to work toward establishing a medical college in every district of Odisha, aiming to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and provide quality medical education across the state.
The Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana emphasizes Odisha’s commitment to preserving its spiritual heritage while ensuring that devotees from all walks of life can experience the divine darshan of Lord Jagannath with dignity and ease.
