New Delhi: Paradip Port Authority (PPA) won the First Prize at the Swachhata Pakhwada Awards 2025 on Tuesday for its strong performance in cleanliness, sustainability, and community participation.

The award was instituted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).

The ministry presented the award at a ceremony in New Delhi. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal conferred the award in the presence of Minister of State Shantanu Thakur and Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW.

P. L. Haranadh, IRTS, Chairman of Paradip Port Authority, received the honour on behalf of the port team.

Several organisations under MoPSW earned recognition at the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Awards–2025 for their performance during Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 and Swachhata Hi Sewa 2025. These initiatives focused on cleanliness drives, citizen participation, awareness programmes, and Safai Mitra welfare.

Moreover, these initiatives help create cleaner and more sustainable work environments, according to an official statement.

This achievement marks an important milestone for PPA and reflects its commitment to the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, environmental responsibility, and inclusive development.

Under the guidance of MoPSW, PPA successfully implemented the three core pillars of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 – Jan Bhagidari, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, and Safai Mitra Suraksha.

Through the Jan Bhagidari initiative, PPA mobilised large-scale public participation by conducting cleanliness drives at schools, heritage sites, temples, beaches, ponds, and port premises.

The port organised cyclothons, Swachhata Raths, rallies, Swachhata Runs, human chains, and citizen-led drives under campaigns such as Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Saath, reinforcing the idea that cleanliness remains a shared responsibility.

Under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, PPA carried out extensive plantation drives that converted neglected spaces into clean green zones. The port also planted 40,000 saplings at Paradip Sea Beach under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign.
