New Delhi: India added another medal to its tally at the Asian Shooting Championship 2026 as Samrat Rana and Suruchi Singh clinched silver in the 10m air pistol mixed team event in New Delhi on Thursday.

Competing at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, the Indian pair put up a strong fight in the final before settling for second place with 479.6 points. Uzbekistan’s Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov claimed gold after finishing ahead with 481.3 points, according to Olympics.com.

Samrat and Suruchi began confidently and held the lead through the early stages of the final. However, a late surge by the Uzbek shooters shifted the balance in the closing series.

Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen secured the bronze medal, as the final was conducted under the revised four-team format. Under the new system, the top four teams competed together, with eliminations taking place during the later series. Vietnam finished fourth in the event.

Earlier, the Indian duo topped the qualification round with a score of 583, comfortably booking a place in the medal round. India’s second mixed team, featuring Manu Bhaker and Sharvan Kumar, ended ninth in qualifications.

With this result, India’s medal tally in senior events rose to five, including two gold, two silver, and one bronze.

The championship, organised by the Asian Shooting Confederation, features rifle and pistol events and will conclude on February 13. Around 311 shooters from 20 countries are competing in New Delhi.
