New Delhi: Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa has played out a draw against Romania’s Bogdan-Daniel Deac in the sixth round of the Super Chess Classic 2026.

Competing with the black pieces, Praggnanandhaa held a slight advantage for a significant phase of the game and was a pawn ahead, while Deac battled heavy time pressure. However, the Romanian player managed to simplify the position through a rook exchange, and the contest ended in a draw after 68 moves, according to chess.com.

The result extended Praggnanandhaa’s unbeaten run in the tournament and marked his fourth straight draw. The Indian moved to 3.5 points and remained tied for second place alongside Fabiano Caruana, Anish Giri, and Jorden van Foreest.

Praggnanandhaa will next face American Grandmaster Caruana in the seventh round on Thursday.

At the top of the standings, Germany’s Vincent Keymer opened a full-point lead after being awarded a forfeit victory following the withdrawal of Alireza Firouzja from the tournament.

The remaining sixth-round matches also ended without a decisive result. Wesley So drew with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, while Caruana shared points with Javokhir Sindarov. The all-Dutch battle between Van Foreest and Giri also concluded in a draw.
