Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today inaugurated a state-of-the-art Power System Simulation Laboratory set up at its Power Training Centre by the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) in Chandaka in the capital city.

The newly commissioned laboratory aimed at strengthening grid management and operational efficiency is equipped with advanced simulation tools that will enable engineers to model complex power grid scenarios, analyse load flow, assess system stability, and simulate fault conditions in real time.

According to an official release, the facility is expected to improve the resilience and efficiency of Odisha’s transmission network while supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh Deo highlighted the importance of a strong transmission network in ensuring reliable power supply, noting that the laboratory will help engineers anticipate challenges and optimise grid operations for industries, agriculture and households.

OPTCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma said the lab will serve as a centre of excellence for capacity building, research and innovation in power system studies. He added that it will provide hands-on training to engineers and support data-driven decision-making, enhancing preparedness for grid contingencies.

Senior officials, including OPTCL directors and engineers, attended the inauguration, marking a step forward in Odisha’s efforts to modernise its power infrastructure and strengthen its energy sector.
