Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday disbursed over ₹61 crore to more than 79,000 beneficiaries who were previously left out of the ‘Subhadra’ scheme due to technical and verification-related issues.

The assistance was released through virtual mode from the Women and Child Development Department in Bhubaneswar, with funds transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

According to official data, 21,901 beneficiaries received the first instalment, 22,347 received the second instalment, while 79,601 beneficiaries were provided with the third instalment after resolution of pending cases. Officials said the disbursement followed verification of applications that were earlier held up due to issues such as inactive NPCI linkage, e-KYC biometric errors and unresolved grievances.

Parida reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is excluded from the scheme, emphasising that all genuine cases will be addressed through a strengthened verification and grievance redressal mechanism. She said the Subhadra scheme is a key initiative aimed at enhancing women’s financial empowerment in Odisha.

The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the status of pending cases with district administrations, including Ganjam, Jajpur and Kalahandi, and directed officials to expedite the verification process to ensure timely inclusion of all eligible beneficiaries.

Senior officials of the Women and Child Development Department, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr. Mrinalini Darswal and Director (In-charge) Swayam Prava Mohanty, along with other officers and district representatives, participated in the programme.
