New Delhi: India’s Devika Sihag delivered a career-defining performance to reach the women’s singles semi-finals of the Thailand Masters 2026 on Friday.
The unseeded Indian defeated the top seed and home favourite Supanida Katethong in straight games. Devika won 21-19, 21-18 in a contest that lasted 40 minutes.
Ranked 63rd in the world, Devika earned her first semi-final appearance at a BWF Super 300 event or higher. The result marked the biggest win of her senior career, according to reports.
The Indian shuttler will now face fifth seed Huang Yu-Hsun of Chinese Taipei for a place in the final.
Devika won the Indian national women’s singles title in 2024. She also claimed titles at the Malaysia International Challenge, Swedish Open and Portugal International last year.
Earlier, India’s Isharani Baruah exited after a three-game battle against Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching. She lost 18-21, 21-16, 21-13 after an hour-long contest.
Isharani had earlier caused an upset by defeating second seed Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei in the second round.
In men’s singles, Tharun Mannepalli suffered a straight-game loss to China’s Zhu Xuan Chen. He went down 21-11, 21-17 in 37 minutes.
Devika remains the only Indian shuttler left in the semi-finals of the BWF Super 300 tournament.
