New Delhi: Indian pugilists delivered a confident show in the quarter-finals of the Asian Boxing Elite Championships on Friday, with multiple fighters advancing to the semi-finals even as the competition gathered pace across weight categories.

In the women’s 51 kg division, Nikhat Zareen produced one of the most dominant displays of the day. She wrapped up her bout in the opening round, forcing a referee stoppage against the Philippines’ Xian Baguhin and underlining her title credentials early in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

India’s strong presence continued in the women’s 60 kg category, where Priya secured a convincing 4:1 verdict over China’s Yang Chengyu. She controlled the bout with measured aggression and consistent scoring, earning a well-deserved place in the semi-finals, according to asianboxing.org.

The evening session saw another impressive Indian performance in the women’s 54 kg division. Preeti Pawar dominated her contest against Mongolia’s Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg, sealing a unanimous decision win to move into the last four.

However, the men’s 70 kg category dealt India a setback. Deepak was outplayed by Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash, who secured a 4:1 decision to advance, ending India’s run in that bout.

Across other contests, several top contenders strengthened their medal prospects. China’s Wu Yu edged a split decision win in the 51 kg division, while DPR Korea’s Kum Buol An and Chinese Taipei’s Guo Yi-Xuan also progressed after hard-fought bouts.

In the 60 kg category, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu-Ting and DPR Korea’s Un Gyong Won advanced with strong performances, alongside Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor, who impressed with a dominant showing.
