Bhubaneswar: Boudh Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal narcotics and illicit liquor activities, seizing 556 kg of ganja, registering multiple excise cases, and confiscating a large quantity of liquor during separate enforcement operations across the district.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams from Manamunda Police Station and Boudh Police Station carried out a series of coordinated anti-narcotics operations that resulted in the seizure of 556 kg of ganja in four separate hauls.

Police also seized five motorcycles and one Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire car allegedly used for transporting the contraband.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the ganja trafficking cases, Boudh Police said in a post on X. Police said further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the illegal network and trace the source and destination of the seized narcotics.

In a separate operation, Boudh Police conducted district-wide excise enforcement drives as part of its ongoing campaign against the illegal liquor trade.

During the operation, police registered six excise cases and seized 219.330 litres of foreign liquor along with 50.200 litres of Odisha-made liquor. Officials said all legal procedures were followed while carrying out the enforcement action.

Police reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against drug trafficking and illegal liquor activities to maintain law and order in the district. The investigation into both the narcotics and excise cases is continuing.
