New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing both leaders as “people that get things done,” while expressing confidence in stronger India-US ties going forward.

In a message shared by the US Embassy in India on X, Trump said, “Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most.”

The remarks come days after a phone conversation between the two leaders, during which they discussed the escalating situation in West Asia, including concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the call, Modi said he had a “useful exchange of views” with Trump on the evolving crisis, reiterating India’s support for de-escalation and an early restoration of peace in the region.

“Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world,” Modi said in a post on X, adding that both sides agreed to remain in touch on efforts to promote stability.

The interaction marked the first direct communication between the two leaders since the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran on February 28, triggering a wider regional conflict and raising concerns over global energy security.

The latest exchange signals continued diplomatic engagement between New Delhi and Washington as tensions in West Asia continue to impact international trade routes and energy supplies.
